Learning Freedom - Primary 2 Homeschooling
Da Hye is in her second primary year of homeschooling now. After years of 'finding her own way', 'taking her own time' and 'uncountable on again off again moments', she's finally literate in English, Korean and Bahasa Indonesia. The journey is far from over but new chapter begins, a step furthur to become an independent learner in a road less travelled.

Soap and toothpaste are essensials for a healthy living. Wonder how they are made? Da Hye and other homeschoolers (big and small) visited a Soap and Toothpaste Factory in Bogor. (Photo: listening to the presentation about the soap and toothpaste production process).

Fish 1

People's desire to keep reef fish as a pet stimulate illegal reef fish trading. People often use cianide to catch these fish. Cianide kills corals and eventually destroy the whole ecosystem. During a rare opportunity to visit the reef fish 'smuggling house' in a fisherman village in East Java, Da Hye learnt that 'Nemo' was worth for just 1.000 rupiahs (a dime), she also learnt that the villagers' poverty and lack of education left them with no choice but involving in illegal trading.
